FishyNES is a basic NES emulator currently under development. It has an ASM core, GUI and supports sound.

What was the NES?

The NES was Nintendo's first console in 1983 in Japan, while under the name Famicom. The NES is an 8-bit console which allows up to 52 colors on the screen at the same time from a palette of 256 colours.

Controls

  • In the Emulator File Explorer:

Choose a ROM in the menu.
SELECT
Leave the emulator.
L
To go 10 Roms back.
R
To go 10 Roms ahead.
  • In the game:
L & R
To go to the emulator menu.
L
Reduce the frameskip.
R
Increase the frameskip (maximum 2).

The button configurations can be modified by editing the file "fishyNES.cfg".

Quick Tip: Just in case anyone else was confused by the path to the roms (/mnt/sd/roms/nes) this means create a directory in the root of your SD card called 'roms' and another inside that called 'nes' which is where your NES roms will go - this is not so obvious to the Linux illiterate like me! --Aj
